COPMANTHORPE RES 2 KARTIERS RES 2 A glorious day for football saw Kartiers come away with a valuable point. With both teams evenly matched it was no surprise with the scoreline, however Kartiers had other ideas and started with str ongintent to take the three points home. After a fiercly contested opening 25 mins with no real chances for either team, Kartiers earned a free kick some 30 yards out. Gareth Rhodes placed the ball down and struck an absolute beauty into the bottom corner to leave the keeper with no chance. With half time fast approaching the Kartiers management were glad to get the team in for fluids and fresh instructions to keep Copmanthorpe at bay. Copmanthorpe however had other ideas and started the second half at a ferocious pace and went looking for the equaliser which they duly earned. Kartiers best chances of scoring again seemed to be from the flick ons from Littlewood at throw ins and set piecesso it was only fitting that Kartiers second goal came from a deep cross from a free kick which was met by the head of Littlewood back across the area for skipper Dave Hawe to drill in past the helpless keeper from 12 yards out. It was bodies behind the ball for the last 15 mins and Kartiers appeared to be hanging on when Copmanthorpe earned a free kick on the right which was whipped in hard and low and struck the unfortunate Neil Taylor at the near post who couldn’t get out of the way and the ball somehow found its way into the net. After the match manager Carl Marran spoke exclusively to www.kartiersfc.co.uk and said, "Im very proud of everyone of my lads as the conditions were very hard to play in and they gave me every once of energy they had, but on reflection a draw was maybe a fair result."
