York St Johns College 2-1 Kartiers FC Kartiers FC slumped to their second defeat in three games against lowly opposition with manager Ian Jennings blasting his sides complacency against teams in the bottom half of the table. 'We appear to have a phobia about playing teams near the foot of the table, its all about having the right attitude and we didn't have that today or during the game at Heslington recently.' A quite dreadful first half performance was summed up by Tom Osbornes goalkeeping clanger which allowed a free kick from distance to float over his mistimed attempt at catching the ball on twenty minutes. Moments later Osborne made amends with a quite stunning save from close in to prevent his side going further behind whilst at the other end the St Johns keeper concentrated on keeping warm in the cold mist that enveloped the ground. The small pitch didnt help as the Kartiers wingmen were restricted for space and although Cooper worked tirelessly up front poor passing and lack of options made it a first half to forget for the loyal band of travelling supporters. Kartiers started the second half much better, it couldn't get any worse, and pegged St Johns back deep into their own half. Tweedie at last forced a save from the home keeper with a rasping drive from distance, Hewitt shot narrowly over and Cooper engineered his own chance from nothing but saw his shot strike the underside of the bar before being cleared to safety. It was against the run of play that St Johns went further ahead with hesitancy in the Kartiers defence allowing a St Johns forward to pick his spot and rifle the ball home from twenty yards out. The visitors gamely fought back and skipper Andrew Richardson smashed home from eight yards on eighty nine minutes and in injury time Ryan Watson latched onto an Olsson pass but fired wide under pressure from the St Johns keeper. Despite being on top for most of the second half Kartiers manager Ian Jennings refused to accept that his side deserved a point from the game, 'you only get out of the game what you put into it and during the first half we didn't perform at all and therefore didn't deserve anything. The second half was better and the boys didn't give up the ghost but we haven't played well for sometime now so perhaps its time I juggled things around and gave one or two other players a chance.'
