Kartiers FC 5-0 Huntington Newly crowned Premier Division Champions Huntington had the silverware on show at the James Street Recreation Ground but the visitors were brought down to earth with a bang as Kartiers FC cemented third place with a stunning victory. Playing their fifth game in eight days one would expect Kartiers to have a sluggish air about them but they took the lead within the first minute much to the delight of the large crowd who had gathered to enjoy the sunshine as well as the football. Wayne Brook pounced on an error at the heart of the Huntington defence and his clever pull back was fired home by Michael Braithwaite. Huntington stroked the ball around with confidence but appeared a little toothless in attack whilst Kartiers youthful exuberance, with James Barrett terrifically energetic at the heart of the Kartiers midfield, were always a threat going forward. Brook scored his first goal for the senior side just after the half hour mark when Woodall's presence forced an error from a Huntington defender and the young striker showed all his quality with a sublime finish. Huntington were given an unexpected lifeline minutes later when Richardson's clumsy challenge gifted the visitors a penalty which Tom Osborne saved brilliantly from ex York City and Huddersfield Town's marksman Iain Dunne. Richardson was replaced at half time by Josh O'Neill, forcing Glen Littlewood to take up defensive duties but ably supported by the ever reliable Taylor brothers, Richard and Paul, Kartiers never looked troubled. Brook's second of the game made it 3-0 and 16 year old Ben Olsson casually stroked home the fourth after Jon James mesmeric run had ripped apart the Champions defence. Brook completed a memorable hat-trick to complete the scoring ten minutes from time after Matt Cooper's fine run and unselfish pass set him up with the simplest of chances and Brook should have made it a personal tally of four at the death when Copper set him up again only for the Huntington keeper to somehow force the ball over the bar from point blank range. Kartiers biggest win of the season coupled with Huntington's worst defeat brought a huge smile to the face of the Kartiers management with manager Ian Jennings commenting after the game how pleased he was to see such a large crowd at the game. 'We have noticed that more and more people are coming down to James Street to watch the games and in a recent evening game against Thorpe United I dont think I have ever seen as many people at a game before. There was a fair crowd here again today and hopefully if we can keep producing perfomances like we did today they will keep coming back.'
