Malton & Norton 1-3 Kartiers FC Kartiers FC moved up to fourth place in the York & District Premier League thanks to a convincing win at Malton which saw them register there first win in six games. Another frustrating week of call off's and unavailability saw both Kartiers sides understrength for last weekends fixtures but Malton had no answer to the pace, vibrancy and determination of a youthful Kartiers superbly lead by new skipper Ryan Watson. Matt Cooper typified all that was good about Kartiers with a no nonsense never say die attitude which gave the Malton defence a torrid time and with Liam Olsson pulling the strings in midfield it appeared only a matter of time before the visitors would take the lead. However, chance after chance went begging with Jon James and Wayne Brook both failing to finish when clean through on the Malton keeper and the visitors were made to pay when Malton took the lead with there first attack of the game on the half hour mark. Kartiers responded brilliantly with an Andrew Woodall thunderbolt free-kick from distance forcing a good save from the Malton keeper and in the dying seconds of the first half the effervescent Cooper was brought down by the home custodian with Woodall comfortable slotting home the resulting penalty. Osborne kept his side on level terms with a stunning save after Richardson's hesitation set up a chance for a Malton forward and the visitors never looked back and Cooper earned just reward for a fine display with a stunning finish from the edge of the box just before the hour mark. Andrew Richardson sealed victory with a trademark header from a Wayne Brook corner and Kartiers cruised home with plenty to spare. A delighted manager Ian Jennings praised his sides commitment and work rate and singled out Matt Cooper for special praise, 'Matt was unplayable today and thoroughly deserved his goal. I wish I had another ten players with his work rate and attitude, simply top class'. The 2nd X1 returned from Copmanthorpe with a point from a 2-2 draw with Gareth Rhodes and Dave Hawe on the scoresheet. This Saturday both teams are at home, venues to be confirmed, with the 1st X1 hosting Tockwith whilst the 2nd X1 entertain Nestle Rowntree.
