Dringhouses 4-1 Kartiers FC Kartiers FC slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season against reigning League Champions Dringhouses in the semi-final of the Senior League Cup. This was Kartiers third semi-final defeat of the season, a season which promised so much but is now in danger of capitulating with only an outside chance of the Premier League title now in their sights. Leading scorer James Tweedie once again was unavailable due to injury and potential match winner Andrew Woodall was also absent due to work commitments. Wayne Brook made his debut in attack and almost gave the visitors the lead in the first minute with a snap shot that brought a breathtaking save out of the Dringhouses keeper. Kartiers played some lovely stuff at times and the interplay between youngsters Braithwaite, Brook and James was scintillating and provided awkward moments for an ageing home defence. Kartiers were rocked however with the award of a penalty on thirteen minutes after Osborne was adjudged to have impeded the Dringhouses forward. Kartiers were incensed with the decision bearing in mind that the forward had come from an offside position but this wasn't to be the only contentious decision due to the ridiculous decision by the league not to appoint linesman for there own prestigious cup semi-final. Ten minutes later Kartiers only had themselves to blame when shocking defending allowed the Dringhouses wide man to run unchallenged inside the Kartiers box and his slipped pass found his forward who turned Crowther far to easy before hammering the ball home. Kartiers response was immediate with Richardson's header forcing yet another stunning save from the Dringhouses keeper whilst Brook had a shot cleared off the line and Crowther struck the post from ten yards out. Richardson did pull a goal back just past the half hour mark with a thumping header from a Liam Olsson free-kick and at that stage it was the Selby side who appeared likeliest to go on and win the game. However, Kartiers didn't come out of the blocks in the second half and only a Glen Littlewood header from a Jon James cross came closest to bringing the scores level. As time ebbed away Dringhouses struck the killer blow as Crowther allowed a ball to glide over his head and the Dringhouses forward was first to the ball to steer it wide of the advancing Osborne. Moments later Dringhouses made it four with yet another goal that looked suspiciously offside and in doing so gave the scoreline a look which even their management described as 'flattering.' Manager Ian Jennings was clearly unhappy after the game with the decision by the League not to appoint linesman for the game and also hit out over an alleged incident involving another club. 'Someone pointed out to me after the game how young the side is and what a great future they had at this level but unfortunately there is a senior club in the district trying to undermine all our hard work by making promises to a couple of our players for next season that they clearly cannot meet but the young lads appear to have swallowed it and perhaps its started to affect how they are performing for Kartiers FC.' He added 'On the positive side if you would have offered any club in the country at the start of the season a place in the semi-final of the three cup competitions you enter plus still being in with a chance of the league title as we approach the last month of the campaign I'm sure they would snap your hand off so the players should be very proud of what they have achieved this season.'
