Wigginton Grasshoppers 0-2 Kartiers FC Kartiers FC put behind them the disappointment of a highly contentious semi-final exit the previous week and put in a performance that manager Ian Jennings described as 'defensively, easily the best we have been all season'. Andrew Woodall started up front instead of the suspended James 'Tiny' Tweedie and made an immediate impact with a goal inside the first minute. Richard Taylor's pin point pass sent Woodall clear and despite the home sides call's for offside the destructive Woodall burst forward before unleashing a thunderbolt from just outside the box which flew into the Wigginton goal. Kartiers carved out some tremendous openings with Braithwaite, Cooper and Littlewood all prominent and with the impressive Jon James back on form the visiting support had plenty to cheer. Despite Wigginton fielding players with Northern Counties East League experience they offered nothing in attack with Osborne a virtual spectator in the Kartiers goal. The visitors doubled their lead ten minutes into the second half when Glen Littlewood's clearance from a Wigginton corner sent Jon James clear and the Kartiers wingman showed great pace and tremendous composure as he left behind a trailing Wigginton defence before finishing emphatically past the home custodian. Kartiers cruised through the remainder of the game with Daniel Hewiit simply outstanding at the heart of the Kartiers midfield but after the game manager Ian Jennings urged his side to push on and build on what he described as a 'thoroughly professional' performance. 'There were some strong words before the game about how the team had performed in recent weeks and I told them that time was running out and it was time for them to start performing. They did that and more but now they have to ensure that they perform at the same level for the rest of the season'. The 2nd X1 enjoyed a bumper 6-0 victory over Thorpe United to maintain their surge towards Reserve Section A survival. Neil Taylor's hat trick, Ben Olsson's brace and a Wayne Brook goal sent Thorpe to the foot of the table with Thorpe's woes made worse by the sending off of Richard Sowden and Barry Martland.
