PAUL TAYLOR

DEFENDER

Paul Taylor takes time out to exclusively talk to www.kartiersfc.co.uk

The right sided defender scooped last seasons 2nd XI Players' Player of the Year Award at the presentation night back in May, he was one of the near ever-present players in that campaign. One of the long serving Kartiers players whom is still currently playing for the club, now answers a few pressing questions we've all been dying to ask the injury prone ('just a knock') No.2...

Q What was your greatest moment of last season?

I think the best was when we had just won and the three points meant we could no longer be relegated, the lads had played there sock's off to drag themselves off the bottom of the league to where we finished mid-table and to finish above our local rivals, Picking up the players player award has to be on the top of the pile

Q What was your lowest moment of last season?

The start of the season, I was struggling with fitness after a bad ankle injury that had put me out for six month's last season, I had no confidence in it and it took a long time to start to believe that it wasn't about to go again

Q What do you aim to achieve by next seasons end?

To try and stay injury free in at least one game next season

Q You've come along way since Hemingbrough United Reserves third sub, and now you're Kartiers 2nd XI Players' Player of the Year for last season, how does it feel?

Shocked and stunned, it took a couple of elbows in the in the ribs by my girlfriend Jayne and a "well are you going to go get it then" from my brother to get me out of my seat to receive the award from Carl, as I was sure he had got mixed up and said the wrong name (some are convinced he did). I never thought I was in contention when you look at the current squad and see the amount of talent that's in the team

Q Could you tell www.kartiersfc.co.uk which soccerette is your favourite?

None! (my girlfriend is sat next to me as a type)

Q You've played for this club for along time now, when was your debut for Kartiers and can you tell us about it?

I can't really remember my first game for the club only that I was sub as I had just transferred from Hemingbrough after been left on the bench for most the of the season, would like to say thanks to Terry Todd for not picking me and triggering my move (won kart's 2nd's player of year award twice in a row in my first years here). But I can remember that in the first game that I started, I was playing at right back and the opposition forward was getting a little annoyed that his effort's to run past me with the ball where failing, so he decided to tackle my knee not the ball, which resulted in me been carried from the field ,two minutes later when he had the ball next the legend that is David Williams did what he did so well and quite fairly two foot challenged him knee high, then stood up, looked at me, smiled and gave me a thumb's up, In fact I think Dave may have passed him the ball

Q Who are your Kartiers legends?

David Williams (see above), Mark Lucas, his never give up attitude has been something that I try to take into every game and Kendo for his belief in the players and their abilities and making the club what it is today, oh' and whoever had the idea for the soccerette......

Q Who in the first team dressing room is the worst dressed player on matchdays?

Don't think there are too many with terrible dress sense, for the most they are young lads who take extra strength gel to the game so when they head the ball they don't mess up there hair

Q Are you superstitious? Do you have any routines on matchdays you like to keep to?

When getting my kit out of the bag on match day before getting changed, the first boot out of the bag has to go on fist same with the shin pads

Q Any predictions for next season?

Top three in the league and the return of the Burton cup

Q If you were stuck on an island and had to take one of the second teams’
girlfriend/wife with you, whose girlfriend/wife would you take? lol

No way I'm answering that one! that's the way you lose girlfriend's and team-mates! (plus Jayne is still sat next to me)

Ok... and for the following can you respond with an answer for one or the other, www.kartiersfc.co.uk will only allow one diplomatic answer only!

Q Red or Blue?
Blue

Q Oasis or Blur?  Oasis

Q Rose or Wharf?

That's a matter for the committee and I won't be drawn into a comment at this time, there will be a announcement after the next committee meeting
